about

On December 13th, 2019, we released our debut album, via Fake Four Inc. "Last Night, and All of Our Glorious Mishaps," was a culmination of the anxieties, stress, and trauma we've experienced throughout our lives. Together, and with our friends, we were able to craft a conceptual piece of contemporary art through a Native lens. Through this album, we displayed an intimacy and honesty that generally isn't explored by Indigenous, and overall Hip-Hop artists in general.

"The result of Last Night is a commentary and critique of contemporary indigenous life and the experience of living in a border town—on the cusp of the Navajo Nation in this case—all the while caught within a struggle for identity. We follow an unnamed character throughout a weekend, dealing with alcoholism, depression, love, and thoughts of suicide." - Gabriel Granillo, Arizona Daily Sun / Flag Live

Despite being rejected by most outlets we submitted to for review, the album was well-received. We were the first local Hip-Hop group to make the front cover of our local music & arts newspaper, Flagstaff Live. We also had two of the three music videos directed by Deidra Peaches screened at various local film festivals. "Here" was screened at the Flagstaff Indigenous Film Festival, and "Native Drunk" screened at the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival. We were unable to tour before Covid-19 hit, but we were able to do a weekend run from Flagstaff to Tucson, and that was a big deal to us. Regardless of the success, it all came from a place of pain.

"One More For Safety" is our 2020 follow up. We wanted to break the cycle of trauma, and create music that comes from love instead of pain. In our mind, "One More For Safety" is a companion piece to "Last Night, and All of Our Glorious Mishaps" While it is its own body of work, it provides the growth and sense of closure that was missing. "It's time for me to figure this s*** out, there's been enough of the doubt, enough of the feeling sorry for self, and taking it out on everyone around" - Prosodic, "In Memory Of". The underlying theme of this album is that of accountability, growth, and family. If our album prior was the restless night before, this is the morning after.

While we remain in Flagstaff, this album includes features from New Mexico, California, Texas, Iowa, and Florida. In contrast, our album prior featured artists from Australia, Oregon, and Arizona. Through this art, we've been able to collectively represent Dinétah using our platform to reach an international audience through the internet. We're fortunate to collaborate with peers locally and globally, from Tuba City to Vienna. Through this music, we've been blessed to expand our extended kin. "One More for Safety," is the end of one chapter, and hopefully the start of another. This album is dedicated to our loved ones who don't allow us to be defined by the dark.
